TL;DR: The Uniswap Foundation is awarding Brevis a grant to develop and facilitate the Hooks Routing Rebate program, providing up to $9M in gas rebates for routers integrating v4 hooked pools. The system will use Brevis’ ZK Data Coprocessor and zkVM to calculate and verify all rebates trustlessly, with no centralized database or hidden calculations. This accelerates v4 adoption by giving aggregators economic incentives to prioritize hook integration.
Uniswap v4: Unlocking the Next Wave of AMM Innovation
Uniswap v4 introduced hooks and a singleton architecture in January 2025, unlocking advanced pool features like dynamic fees, custom curve logic, MEV resistance and more.
For traders, this means better execution, reduced slippage, and lower costs as liquidity adapts intelligently to market conditions. For developers, v4 provides a flexible foundation for continuous innovation without fragmenting liquidity.
Aggregators: The New Challenge of v4 Integration
At the same time, v4 creates a new challenge for DEX aggregators like 1inch, 0x, and Velora. Aggregators are the entry points for many traders, integrating across different DEXes to route swaps through multiple pools for the best execution and fee tiers.
Integration was straightforward for Uniswap v2 and v3. With v2, aggregators simply applied the constant-product formula (x × y = k) for quotes. V3 became more complex due to concentrated liquidity and fee tiers, but maintained a universal pool construct that kept integrations scalable.
With v4, pools are no longer homogeneous. Each pool can be customized with hooks that alter its swap logic, fee structure, or execution guarantees. This flexibility enriches the ecosystem but forces aggregators to detect and understand the unique behavior of each pool they integrate with.
Driving Faster v4 Hook Adoption
To accelerate v4 hook adoption and make aggregator integration more rewarding, Uniswap has awarded a grant to Brevis to leverage its ZK Data Coprocessor and zkVM to deliver trustless gas rebates to any routers that route orderflow through v4 hooked pools.
These rebates provide routers new economic relief to experiment with v4 hooks. Whether routers use them to offset their own operating costs, pass rebates back to traders as lower fees, or build sustainable treasuries, the result is the same: faster integrations, deeper liquidity, and better swap execution with reduced fees for users.
Trustless Gas Rebates, Powered by Brevis
The rebate program runs entirely through Brevis ZK technology, eliminating any reliance on centralized tracking or opaque calculations.
For rebate calculation: Routers can generate ZK proofs for the swaps that they routed through eligible v4 pools using our Brevis hosted gas rebate proving system. Brevis Pico zkVM then calculates total gas costs, and generates an aggregated zero-knowledge proof verifying the entire computation. The router receives the proof and uses it to claim rebates on-chain through smart contracts.
For claiming rebates: Routers submit the ZK proof to the rebate contract, which verifies the proof is valid, confirms swaps haven’t been rebated already, and releases payment. The entire process is automated and trustless.
This approach solves what centralized systems can’t: verifiable fairness and decentralized retrospective rewards at scale. Every calculation is backed by cryptographic proof anyone can verify on-chain. No centralized database tracking contributions and no trust required in any intermediary. Routers get their rebates, the Uniswap Foundation gets transparent distribution, and v4 adoption accelerates with economic support that maintains DeFi’s core guarantees.
This automated, verifiable pipeline is precisely why the Uniswap Foundation awarded Brevis this grant. Brevis’s ZK Data Coprocessor and zkVM is the only infrastructure capable of processing complex rebate calculations off-chain while generating cryptographic proofs that maintain on-chain security guarantees. Where traditional approaches require either prohibitive on-chain costs or centralized trust assumptions, Brevis delivers both economic viability and complete verifiability.
Accelerating V4, Upholding DeFi
This grant gives Uniswap hook builders the momentum they need to thrive. By providing economic incentives for routers to integrate hooked pools, it accelerates aggregator adoption. With deeper pool liquidity, users experience tighter spreads and reduced slippage. If routers pass rebates to users, traders see lower effective costs on swaps.
Uniswap v4 introduced advanced AMM capabilities through hooks. Brevis is building the infrastructure to make v4 adoption economically attractive for routers while maintaining the trustless guarantees that define DeFi. With Brevis ZK proofs powering the rebate system, integrators, traders, and liquidity providers all benefit as v4 scales.
